Commercial Dryer Maytag SL50 - won’t start at all, sailor switch error - Maytag SL50 Commercial Dryer Repair in Milpitas, CA.

25.11.2016

One of our regular customers called us regarding a Maytag SL50 dryer that one of our techs repaired before. This time, the dryer wouldn’t start. Since the tech has already worked with this particular dryer and was aware of its possible issues, it didn’t take him long to figure out what the problem was. One of the fuses for 20Amps on the control board burned down. Replacing it fixed the problem of dryer not starting. But our tech decided to get to the core of the issue. He connected a current meter to the power supply circuit of the control board. He noticed that when the motor was reversing, the control board would start 1-2 seconds before 28Amps current. Which means that at that moment the fuse was getting overloaded and it cause it to fail. Since for the customer it was not very important that the dryer was delicate, he decided that it would be better to turn off the reverse function in all of the drying cycles. The customer was quite excited about such an interesting lifehack.

Refrigerator GE Profile GSS25LGMA WW - ice dispenser not working- GE Profile GSS25LGMA WW Refrigerator Repair in San Jose, CA.

25.11.2016

Another customer’s ice dispenser was not producing ice. When he would press on the button, there was humming sound but no ice would come out. Our technician removed the panel and the motor and defrosted the motor. It seemed to start working again and there was ice coming out from the ice dispenser. So our tech thought that the issue was fixed and the repair was done. But the same customer called the office in just a couple of days saying that the ice dispenser stopped producing ice once again. The tech came back with a new ICE AUGER MOTOR WR60X10258 and a motor cover against humidity and frost. Once he replaced it, the ice dispenser started working properly

Refrigerator KitchenAid KSSC48QMS01 - not cooling at all, main control board - Repair in San Jose, CA.

31.10.2016

Another customer’s KitchenAid KSSC48QMS01 refrigerator stopped working - more specifically, it would not keep the food cold. The compressor wasn’t starting. When our technician first took a look at it, it seemed like the compressor was trying to start - the power was coming from the inverter board to the compressor for 1-2 seconds - but then it would stop. There was squeaking sound coming from the control board as well as clicking relay sounds. It was now clear that the issue was with  the main control board Whirlpool & KitchenAid W10219463 / 2307028. Our tech disconnected the Whirlpool & KitchenAid W10219463 / 2307028 main control board and took it back to the office to fix it - he replaced four relays and the capacitor for 220mF (the old one was showing only 53mF). After he put the control board back in, the fridge started cooling again.

Washer Samsung WA422PRHDWR/AA - not draining, not starting spin cycle -  Samsung Washer Repair in San Jose, CA.

31.10.2016

Our technician started diagnosing the issue by removing the back cover of the washer and checking the drain pump. He started a Spin cycle and the drain pump started working, but extremely quietly, as if it was barely running. Once the tech shook the wires on the drain pump a bit, it started running to the full capacity. It was clear that the issue was either with the drain pump or with power supply. He checked power and it was at 120VAC, which is how it should be. So he removed the drain pump to try and figure out what was wrong with it. When he connected it directly to 120VAC, it was working fine, but when he put it back into the washer it was not running properly again. He removed it once again and when connected to 120VAC it would work perfectly. Going back and forth and being completely confused at this point, he disassembled the drain pump itself and found the defect - a bad contact on one of the wires of the capacitor on coil. Once he resoldered the the defective wire on the drain pump, it started working properly and the repair was complete. The customers were happy to have their Samsung WA422PRHDWR/AA washer working again.

Dryer Whirlpool Duet WED97HEDBD0 - won’t start at all, motor won’t start, not working at all - Whirlpool Duet Dryer Repair in Saratoga, CA.

31.10.2016

Another customer was having issues with his Whirlpool Duet WED97HEDBD0 dryer - it was not starting. First, our technician checked power supply, at 240VAC it was fine, then the power supply to the motor - it was exactly as it was supposed to be, at 120VAC. Then the tech disassembled the dryer completely and started checking all of the components. He found out that the thermal protection overload switch wasn’t giving continuity. Once he did a bypass of this thermal protection overload switch, the motor started working. Since the thermal protection overload switch comes as one unit with the motor, all of it had to be replaced, including the perfectly running motor Whirlpool Dryer Drive Motor WPW10620755. Such a ridiculous repair - even though just the thermal protection overload switch was defective, Whirlpool does not sell it separately for the motor WPW10620755. Although the tech could have just left the bypass of this switch, it was better and safer to complete the proper, although more expensive, repair and replace the whole unit of motor and the thermal protection overload switch.

Oven Might Be Making Noises

Oven Might Be Making Noises

Most Common Reasons Why Your Oven Might Be Making Noises.

Not every time that our appliance makes noises we need to worry.
And not every surprising noise is a big deal. For example, if you have a gas oven and it makes a hissing sound, it is just the gas releasing that will be ignited.
The noises of the oven can be connected with different reasons.
Its important to understand the reason for the noise.
Convection ovens often make noises, and in most cases, this is generally due to the way their impeller fans work.
When the impeller fan is the problem, the good news is that it is generally not a problem with the fan – it just needs to be cleaned.
If you do not have a convection oven but are seeing  the same symptoms as described above, it could be an issue with the cooling fan.  If you hear screeching, grinding, or squeaking noise – but only when you shut off the oven – it could be due to a dirty cooling fan.

Preventative Tips for Dryers

Purchasing an appliance is considered a costly investment and we try to do our best to maintain it right and keep it in working condition as long as possible.
We try to give some tips for helping our customers fix minor problems themselves and properly maintain the appliance. Keep It Clean!
Accumulation of debris in the lint trap can cause the machine to overheat, but that lint can catch fire, so you need to be very careful. Clean the lint trap after every cycle and make sure you check the pipes in a while and vacuum them if necessary. Checki For Damaged Equipment
Run your hand around the edges of the door when the dryer is working. If you feel a lot of hot air coming out, you may be dealing with a damaged door gasket, which prevents the door from closing properly. Don’t Overload It
Thinking that the last pair of jeans you stick in won’t have any effect on your dryer? Think again. Overloading your dryer can prevent the clothes from drying properly and can also damage the rotating mechanism. When in doubt, you should do two drying cycles and split your clothes in two.
