Kenmore Front Load Washer Leaking Because Of Bad Design

The client called us because their washing machine kenmore 796.40318900 was leaking water.

Technician Adam started the diagnostic, turned the washer on and in about 10 seconds after the water supply it started leaking from the bottom.

Adam puleed the washing machine, removed the back cover and noticed that the water was dripping somewhere from top of the washer. He took off the top cover, and found that the cold water supply hose was worn out and had a hole in it. Adam called the customerr to show where the problem was. The customer said that they had the similar problem four years ago and Sears have already changed the hoses. Washing machine was only 6 years old. This all was happening because of bad design of the water and air supply pipes. Pipes were rubbing and wearing out during the wash cycle. Adam offered the customer to make a little redesign, to rotate the water valve, so this would never happen again. The technician cut the worn-out part of the water supply pipe, drilled two holes behind the washing machine, secured the water valve in a new way. This way, the tube would never rub. Then he needed to do something with the air supply pipe. Adam took a piece of worn-out water supply pipe and put it inside the air pipe and secured everything with the waterproof tape. Then he tested the washer, tried different cycles. The leak was gone, and piped were not rubbing. The customer was happy that they could now use the washer without beeing worried about the water leak.
