What we fix

Heating we install and repair

Three groups, one dispatcher and one phone number. Cooling has its own page — this one is heat and hot water, gas and electric, all major brands.

Gas furnace Sunny installed, flex ducts and flue run in above it

Furnace & Thermostat Installation & Repair

No heat at all, a burner that lights then drops out, a blower pushing cold air around the house, or a thermostat that calls for heat and gets nothing back. Gas and electric furnaces, plus the thermostats and controls that drive them. We install furnaces as well as repair them, and we say plainly when replacing beats repairing.

Williams wall heater of the kind Sunny installs and repairs in older Bay Area homes

Wall Heater Installation & Repair

A wall heater that will not light, lights and goes out a few minutes later, or barely warms the room it is standing in. Plenty of older Bay Area homes still run on these, and the fault is usually the pilot, the thermocouple or the gas valve rather than the whole unit.

Air handler Sunny installed in an attic, drain pan and condensate lines run off it

Air Handling Installation & Repair

Weak air at the vents, a blower that hums but will not turn, ice forming on the indoor coil, or water standing in the drain pan underneath it. The air handler is the indoor half of the system — blower, coil and filter rack — and when it stops moving air properly, nothing downstream of it can do its job either.

Why Sunny

Why pick us for heating

  • Experienced technicians Licensed and insured, well-educated and well-equipped, and polite in your house. Gas and electric heat, thermostats and controls included.
  • The price before the work The unit is opened and tested where it stands, then you get the exact cost. Approve it or walk away — nothing starts until you say yes.
  • Same-day, seven days a week Vans carry an extensive range of parts, so most repairs finish on that first visit. Evenings and weekends cost no extra.
  • Free estimate on installations A new furnace or a replacement unit is measured up and quoted at no charge. The estimate commits you to nothing.

Symptoms

What goes wrong with heating

Describe it over the phone — the noise, the smell, the moment it quits — and we will usually tell you what it is likely to be before a technician leaves the shop.

Describe it on the phone
  • No heat at allThe thermostat is calling, the furnace stays silent, and the house sits at whatever the weather left it. Normally ignition, a safety switch or a dead control board.
  • It lights, then drops out againThe burner catches, runs a minute or two and shuts down, over and over. A flame sensor, thermocouple or limit switch is usually behind it.
  • The blower runs but the air is coldThe fan keeps going after the burner has quit, so every vent in the house is moving room-temperature air.
  • The thermostat and the furnace disagreeA blank or frozen screen, a set point the house never reaches, or a system that runs and will not stop. Sometimes it is the thermostat, often it is what the thermostat is wired to.
  • Hot water runs cold earlyA shower that goes cold in five minutes, or a tank that never gets there at all. Pilot, thermostat, heating element or sediment sitting in the bottom of the tank.
  • A puddle, a rumble or a new smellWater spreading under the tank, rumbling from inside it, or a burning smell on the first cold morning of the year. Say which one when you book — it often decides what the technician loads.

How it works

From a cold house to a working one

Same order every time, whether it is a furnace in January or a water heater in July.

Good to know

Repair, replace and the small print

Some heaters are worth fixing and some are not. We install furnaces and water heaters as well as repair them, and when a unit is genuinely past saving we will tell you that instead of selling you a repair that will not last.

What to have ready when you book

  • The brand, and the model number off the data plate if you can reach it.
  • What the unit does and does not do — lights and goes out, runs but blows cold, makes a noise it did not make last winter.
  • Any code or blinking light on the control board or the thermostat.
  • Your city or ZIP, so the nearest technician gets the job.

The more of that we have on the phone, the better the chance the right part is already on the van — and most repairs finish on the first visit.

If you can smell gas

Leave the building, then call your gas utility from outside. Book the repair once that has been dealt with — we would rather you called us second.

Discounts and the service call

An estimate on an installation is free — a replacement furnace or water heater is measured up and quoted at no charge, and the quote commits you to nothing. On a repair, the service call is free when the work goes ahead. If you decide not to go ahead, you pay the diagnostic fee and nothing else, and the terms of service set out how the quote and the payment work.
