SF Bay Area Air Conditioning Installation & Repair

AC repair, tune-ups and whole new systems — plus heat pumps, ductless splits and the ductwork that carries the air. The service call is free with the repair, and the price is quoted before anyone starts.

Installation and repair

A new system, or the one you have put right

One is the system that used to cool and now doesn't. The other is a house that has never had air conditioning in it at all. Alongside repairs we install air conditioners, and when a unit is genuinely past saving we will tell you that instead of selling you a repair that will not last.

Either way the order is the same. The technician diagnoses the system on site and gives you the exact price before the work starts. Approve it and we go ahead. Decline it and you pay the diagnostic fee and nothing else — and the service call is free when the repair goes ahead.

What sits under air conditioning

  • Air conditioner repair — homes and businesses, the indoor side and the outdoor condenser both.
  • Tune-ups and new installations — a system looked over before the hot weather, or a new one put in.
  • Heat pumps and ductless splits — one outdoor unit that heats and cools, or a mini-split for a room the ducts never reached.
  • Ductwork — new runs, replacements and the sealing that stops cooled air leaking into the crawl space.

Furnaces and wall heaters sit on the heating page instead, and commercial refrigeration — walk-ins, reach-ins and prep tables — has moved to commercial repair. One number covers all of it: (888) 622-2799, seven days a week from 7am to 8pm, with no extra charge for an evening or a weekend.

Air Conditioner Repair & Installation

Homes and businesses alike — repair, tune-ups and new installations. Blowing warm, tripping the breaker, running all afternoon without the room getting any cooler, icing up, or an outdoor condenser making a noise it did not make last summer.

Heat Pump Installation

One outdoor unit that cools in summer and heats in winter, instead of an air conditioner and a furnace sitting side by side. We size the system to the house rather than to a catalogue, deal with the electrical side, and set the controls up so the unit and the thermostat are not working against each other.

Ductless Split System Installation

Mini-splits for the rooms the ducts never reached — a converted garage, an addition, an attic office, or an older Bay Area house with no ductwork in it at all. One outdoor unit runs several indoor heads, each on its own thermostat, and the wall takes a three-inch hole instead of a duct run.

Ductwork Installation

New duct runs, replacements for the ones that were never sized properly, and the sealing and insulation that stop cooled air disappearing into the crawl space. When some rooms never get cool while others freeze, it is usually the ducts rather than the unit.

How it works

Five steps from the call to the fix

The same order every time, whether it is a tune-up in Fremont or a new system going into a house in San Jose.

  1. 1
Book the visitCall (888) 622-2799 or send the form. You choose a 2-hour window, seven days a week between 7am and 8pm — evenings and weekends cost no more than a Tuesday morning.
  2. 2
Assessment on siteThe technician calls when they are on the way, then opens and tests the system instead of guessing from the symptom — the indoor side and the outdoor condenser both.
  3. 3
The exact price, before anything startsThe cost of the repair, or of the installation, comes back as one number. Approve it and the work begins. Decline it and the technician packs up: you pay the diagnostic fee and nothing else, and nothing has been ordered.
  4. 4
The work itselfMost repairs finish on that first visit, because the vans carry an extensive range of parts. An installation runs to the same price you approved before it started.
  5. 5
Tested with you standing thereThe system is run and the air off the vents checked before the technician packs up. The service call is free when the repair goes ahead.

Symptoms

What we get called out for most

Describe what the system is doing over the phone and we will usually tell you what it is likely to be before anyone is sent out — no charge for that.

Describe it on the phone
  • Runs, but blows warmThe fan turns and the vents blow, only nothing coming out is cold. Usually the refrigerant side or a compressor that is no longer pulling its weight.
  • Never reaches the temperature you setIt runs all afternoon and the room stays warm. Often a thermostat reading the wrong thing, a clogged filter or a coil thick with dust.
  • Ice on the coil or the linesFrost forming where there should be none, and the cooling dropping off as it builds. It clears overnight and comes straight back the next day.
  • Water where it should not beA drip from the indoor unit, a puddle underneath it or a damp patch on the ceiling below — most often a blocked condensate drain.
  • New noise, or a smellRattling, grinding or a hard hum out of the condenser, or a musty smell through the vents for the first minute after it starts.
  • Trips the breaker, or will not switch onDead controls, a system that shuts itself off part way through, or a breaker that goes every time the compressor tries to start.
