Our story
How a four-city repair shop ended up covering six counties
Sunny HVAC & Appliance Repair opened in 2011. When we first started the business we were only servicing Fremont, Hayward, Newark and Union City — four neighboring cities in Alameda County, and that was the whole map.
Nothing clever happened after that. The more effort our technicians put into delivering the best service, the more exposure we got. Most of our work still arrives by word of mouth. What people wrote afterwards is public — 4.5 from more than 700 reviews on Yelp and Google, collected since 2011.
Now we cover the whole Bay Area, from San Francisco to San Jose, from Oakland to Pleasanton: six counties and sixty cities, on one phone number. Three things sit under one phone number — appliance repair, heating and air conditioning. Commercial work is nested inside all three rather than sitting as a department of its own, so a laundromat, a restaurant kitchen or an apartment building is booked the same way a home is. The technicians who turn up are experienced, well-educated, well-equipped and polite, and they are licensed and insured.
The visit itself is deliberately plain. You choose a two-hour window — any day between 7am and 8pm, no extra charge for evenings or weekends — and the technician calls when they're on the way. The unit is opened and tested on site, and you get the exact price before the repair starts: approve it, or walk away. Most repairs finish on that first visit, because the vans carry an extensive range of parts. The service call is free when the repair goes ahead. And if waiting at home does not suit, you can bring a small appliance in to us instead — ring the dispatcher for the address, and we schedule a time to look at your unit and call you that same day with an estimate.
